We are hiring a Neuroengineer – Neural Systems & Clinical Translation to own signal validation, preclinical execution, and the path from early data to clinical and commercial impact.

The Role

This role is responsible for translating device and biointerface designs into quantitative, system-level performance data, and ensuring that what we build produces and generates; recording and stimulating signals that are interpretable, reproducible, and clinically meaningful.

You will own the strategy for demonstrating that our system works, and for structuring the evidence required for regulatory and go-to-market success.

What You’ll Do

  • Own experimental design across in vitro and in vivo systems
  • Lead in vivo electrophysiology studies
  • Define and implement signal validation frameworks (SNR, stability, repeatability, functional relevance)
  • Analyze neural data and translate it into actionable system-level insights
  • Drive the iteration loop across teams: device → interface → implant → signal → redesign
  • Identify failure modes across biology, device, and signal, and design experiments to systematically de-risk them
  • Establish reproducible preclinical protocols and data pipelines
  • Define the preclinical → clinical translation strategy, including what data is required to advance
  • Support and participate in FDA-facing strategy and interactions, including framing study design and results
  • Ensure all experiments generate decision-driving data
  • Interface with external partners (CROs, surgeons, advisors) to execute studies and refine approach

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong background in neural engineering, bioengineering, or applied neuroscience
  • Hands-on experience with in vivo electrophysiology (recording and/or stimulation)
  • Experience designing and executing animal studies (rodent required; large animal a plus)
  • Ability to think in terms of systems and signal chains.
  • Ability to connect signal → function → clinical outcome
  • Experience with neural signal processing, statistical inference, and development of decoding/encoding algorithms (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Strong experimental rigor with focus on quantitative validation and reproducibility
  • Ability to operate across disciplines and collaborate with biology, materials, and hardware teams
  • Strong communication skills for documenting, presenting, and framing results for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong intuition for extracting meaningful biological and functional insights from noisy neural datasets

PhD in Neural Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, or related field, or equivalent industry experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • Experience with implantable neural devices
  • Experience with closed-loop or bidirectional neural systems
  • Familiarity with computational modeling for neural stimulation
  • Familiarity with regenerative medicine and/or novel genetically-targeted techniques
  • Exposure to translational or clinical programs
  • Exposure to FDA or regulatory processes, including preclinical study design, translational planning, GLP, GCP, or ISO 14155 environments
  • Experience working with CROs or external research partners
  • Surgical experience or close collaboration with surgical teams

Salary/Pay Range

Competitive salary + equity + benefits. Individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Medical, dental and vision
  • Flexible vacation and company-paid holidays
  • Healthy meals and snacks provided for non-remote employees
  • Paid parental, jury duty, bereavement, family care and medical leave
  • 401(k)
